Robots that carry totes, carts or pallets between work areas.

Scaled

Thousands of units in daily work across many customers and countries.

What it does

A transport robot moves loads from point to point. A roller-top robot docks with a conveyor, and a lifting robot carries a cart or rack. It replaces walking and tugging, not picking.

Best for

  • Line feeding and work-in-progress moves in factories
  • Linking conveyors, stations and docks
  • Heavy loads, up to 2,500 kg on some models

Watch out for

  • Value depends on how far and how often loads move.
  • It needs a link to your WMS or MES to receive jobs.
  • Elevators, doors and slopes add cost.

What it costs

A 2024 price guide puts unit-load AGVs from about US$40,000 and tuggers at US$50,000 to US$85,000 each. Chinese vendors quote per project.

Why we rate it scaled

Hikrobot reported more than 30,000 AMRs shipped and over 1,500 customers by 2022. ForwardX reports 3,000+ AMRs in 220+ facilities on five continents.

Who makes it in China
